Hotels in Nashville offer an inviting mix of traditional and contemporary in a locale nicknamed “Music City”. Set in The Volunteer State‘s capital and most populated city, hotels in Nashville offer spacious, luxurious and relatively inexpensive travel options. Known for its country music, its restaurants and bars, its parks, its museums and its business, Nashville was once home to singer-songwriter legend Johnny Cash for 35 years. Deep-rooted in country music, the Music City’s Grand Ole Opry dates back to 1925. Nashville is home to two professional sports teams, the Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators. When traveling within Nashville, keep in mind that you might get caught up on the highway during rush hour, in coffee shops during brunch time and on Sunday-morning streets due to church traffic. Hotels in Nashville indeed are some of the best accommodations in the southern United States. Before we get to hotels in Nashville, let’s take a look at some background information on the area to help you along the way.
Nashville was founded in 1779 by James Robertson, John Donelson, and a party of Overmountain Men. Named after Francis Nash, an American Revolutionary War brigadier general, Nashville grew to be an influential port city as well as railway epicenter. Tobacco, hemp, commodity crops, thoroughbred horses, livestock and indeed, slaves, all moved through the city. Of the city’s 345 residents in 1800, 136 were slaves, and 14 were freedmen, who essentially provided labor for the city’s first water system, and maintained its streets. The city’s location as a major port and rail terminal caused it to be a major target for the Union Army during the American Civil War As such, Nashville became the first Confederate state capital to fall. In reality, this major Confederate city had a profound impact on early-America’s development.
The capital of and most populated city in Tennessee, Nashville is arguably the best place in the world to see country music, in places such as Grand Ole Opry House. Vanderbilt University, established in 1873, is located in the city’s southwest section. The Music City’s climate is considered humid subtropical, with average July high temperatures hovering just below 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and average January highs at around 47 degrees. Major points of interest include Parthenon, Nissan Stadium, Ryman Auditorium, Bridgestone Arena, Music City Center, Tennessee State Museum, Tennessee State Capitol, The Hermitage, Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Lower Broadway, Printer’s Alley, Johnny Cash Museum and RCA Studio B. Popular foods include barbecue ranging from pulled pork to glazed ribs, mac ‘n cheese, spicy beans, coleslaw, hot chicken, burgers, fish and chips, biscuits, meat and three (pick one meat – three to six side dishes) and chocolate. Alcoholic drinks include whiskey, tequila, bourbon, vodka and of course Jack Daniels, which has been distilled and bottled in Lynchburg, TN since 1875. Now that we have some background information, it’s time for hotels in Nashville that are sure to impress.

I will like to visit Nashville TN one day to see some of the historical places mentioned here and the nice hotels which are relatively cheap
Wow! I have never been to Nashville TN. It sounds like such a spectacular place and the hotels look fabulous. I would be half tempted to go simply to stay in them. Thank you for providing the rates, this is really helpful. I do have a question for you – are these rates fixed or likely to change? If they are going to change, what is the cheapest time of year to visit?
Hi Catherine, great questions. Pricing like anything is based on demand and also time of year. The cheapest time to visit would be in the winter, when high temperatures are still pretty mild, hovering around 50 degrees. Thanks for the comments and hope you get to see Nashville really soon 🙂
HI! I COME FROM EUROPE, SLOVENIA TO BE MORE ACCURATE, AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO USA, BUT EVENTUALLY I WILL VISIT USA, BECAUSE IT IS ON MY WISH LIST WHAT TO VISIT. HERE IN LJUBLJANA WE HAVE COUPLE OF HOTELS, BUT JUST 4 OF THEM ARE WORTH MENTIONING, THEY ARE NOT EVEN VERY GOOD EXCEPT ONE, BUT READING THROUGH YOUR POST, TENNESSE HAS A LOT OF GREAT HOTELS, AND THEY ARE NOT EVEN EXPENSIVE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOVELY POST.
CHEERS,
PRIMOZ P.
Primoz thanks for the comments and enthusiasm by way of Slovenia! Glad to hear you found Nashville to your liking.

Hi Carol. Glad to hear that you are a traveler who is interested in visiting Nashville. Hopefully you get to go next year as you will likely love it 🙂
Many thanks to you for sharing such an excellent article with us .This city of Tennessee looks pretty nice. I’m thinking of traveling to Nashville TN soon so I was very keen to know about the hotel and the sights there. The Hyatt House Nashville at Vanderbilt Hotel, offered by Upper Artillery, is my favorite because it has so many opportunities to visit the Nashville Public Library, art galleries, restaurants, bridal shops, swimming pools, the Johnny Cash Museum.
I will be here soon and will share my experience with you .
Shanta looking forward to hearing about your Nashville experience. Great choice in the Hyatt House!
Great information about Nashville then and now, their love for country music, sports, the weather and the amenities close to your hotels. I have never been there yet, but by the looks of it I am already captivated by its history and surrounding landmarks and amenities. Looks like there is a lot to see and things to do there.
Junalyn you are right on when pointing out all the great things to do in Nashville. Glad you found the information useful and happy travels out there!
Nashville seems to have a rich history and a vibrant present. I honestly never knew that Nashville has so many attractions. Sports, music (being the hub of country music), arts and more.
A visit there is a must! Looking through hotels in Nashville, I will book “Stay Alfred at 505” because of the high value for many. $103 per person for a two-bedroom apartment is very cheap considering all the luxurious amenities provided and its proximity to major city attractions.
Thanks,
Jordan.
Jordan, excellent points! Stay Alfred at 505 is top-notch luxury at a good price, a win-win
