Along with hotels in Moscow Russia you will find all the best nearby attractions referenced below. Before we get to hotels in Moscow Russia, let’s take a look at some more background information on the city to help you along the way.

Moscow is the most heavily populated city and capital of Russia, with over 15 million inhabitants. The earliest known reference to the city dates back to 1147. Moscow’s population grew from around 130,000 in 1750 to 1.8 million by 1915. During World War II, the city was considered to be in a state of siege, and following the war the invention of high-rise apartments helped to assuage a housing crisis. After the USSR dissolved in the 1990s a market economy ensued, creating a boom of Western-style living.

Defined by a humid continental climate, Moscow has average high temperatures ranging from the mid-70s degrees Fahrenheit in July to around 25 degrees in January. Central Moscow temperatures tend to be higher than those of the city’s outskirts. The city has always been a popular tourist destination. Interestingly, it is estimated that Moscow has twice as many elevators as New York City. Major attractions include Spasskaya Tower, Moscow Kremlin, MIBC, Red Square, Saint Basil’s Cathedral, Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow State University, Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Church of the Ascension, Moscow Cathedral Mosque, Ostankino Tower, Arbat Street, Luzhniki Stadium, Novodevichy Convent, new Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow Ring Road, Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, State Historical Museum, Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow International House of Music, Central Moscow Hippodrome, SC Olimpiyskiy, Otkrytiye Arena, VEB Arena and VTB Arena (Dynamo Stadium).  Popular foods include Blini, or pancakes, Borshch Moskovsky, which is borscht (sour soup), Pelmeni, or dumplings, Shchi, a Russian-style cabbage soup, beef stroganoff, Shashlik, which is essentially a shish kebab, Ponchiki, or a doughnut, Pirozhki, or fried dough and Pastila, a traditional fruit confectionery. Keep in mind that Russians can hold their liquor, with the national drink being vodka, having been produced in the country since at least the 14th century.  Now that we are equipped with some background knowledge, it’s time for hotels in Moscow Russia that you are almost certain to adore.

  1. These are some really really fancy hotels! Many of them are roomier than my apartment. I love that you included some of the city’s history plus its climate. I happen to prefer winter over other seasons, so that’s when I’d really like to go. You provided information on some of the city’s attractions that are near to each specific hotel, and that is grand! I believe I’d prefer to stay in the House of Composers Penthouse. It looks gorgeous and is near to some truly inspiring entertainment. Thank you so much for sharing these!

  2. Its good to read about Moscow and it’s amazing luxurious lifestyle that it offers it visitors. I’ve no been to Russia before, but trust me I planned to visit the place soon. I like the hotel ideas here, they are really filled with interesting and attractive offers that makes their prices worth it. This is really useful.

  3. I would have taught that the best place to find classic hotels should be Paris or Greece.. I never knew Russia had this much to offer. I can see that hotels in Moscow Russia and even the surrounding attractions, are some of the finest in the world. Although they vary in cost and it is a normal thing to expert more cost if you are to experience better services. What about other parts of Russia? Any good hotels?

  4. I have never been to Russia. Your post has brought insight to me concerning the beautiful and gorgeous hotels we have in Russia. I should plan a vacation there.. It would be nice. Although something bothers me. How is the language situation there? Sometimes language differences may lead to poor services. What is done about this? Do we have to learn Russian language? It won’t be fair if that is compulsory

  5. Russia is a very wonderful country and its cold temperature is one of the few things I love about that place. Some time ago i was given the chance to take a tour there, but because there was no hotel i knew as at that time are me stay back and forfeited the travel. With these wonderful hostels here, i would be gutted to travel to Moscow now. The standart hotel is one very good one and its available things are just too good. It feels like home.

  6. I have been to Russia, but not to any of these listed hostels and they have really amazing offers to make you feel well at home and not on a journey. The winewood lounge hotel makes so much sense going by the fact that it can be for a group of people who are traveling together and the few is very cheap per person.I would bookmark this post so i can make reference to it after.

  7. Hi,

Thanks for sharing, I’m planning a trip to Moscow for me and my girlfriend as an anniversary gift. We’re going to be heading over in April so would rather find a hotel in Moscow now than risk leaving it any later. The Winewood Moscow Lounge Hotel looks and sounds like it may be ideal & about £200 per night (I’m British) sounds pretty reasonable. Would you say now is the best time to book or better of waiting for the new year?

    1. Nate the sooner the better when it comes to booking, though some larger or unique units you’ll find might only book out a month or so

  8. Getting satisfaction is one thing that is different from how much you can spend. Going to a place like Moscow, you must be prepared to spend as much as possible because your convenience relatively depends on the amount of luxury you can afford. The hotels you mentioned here are nice, I love the aspects of sole of them having spa and other lively activities. I’ll bookmark this website so that I won’t loose it.

  9. Wow! Your pictures of these hotels really made me want to go to Russia! I have never been there.  I enjoyed reading about the attractions and features of Russia as well.  I don’t ever know if I will get to go there but this information is useful!

Do you know if there is a hotel that is the most popular in the area close to attractions? Have you ran across one that is usually always booked or recommended the most?

Are there any areas of Russia that you think should be avoided where I wouldn’t want to get a hotel?

    1. Jessica thank you for the comments and great questions. All of these accommodations are well situated near some of the best Moscow attractions. As far as safety goes, please feel free to check this gov link to check on the latest travel advisories
