Hotels in Dubai provide exceptional accommodations in a destination nicknamed “Gulf Tiger” and “City of Gold”. A saltwater creek and waterway that flows in a semi-circular motion around the city, the Dubai Creek is about 4,000 feet at its widest point while averaging about 22 feet in depth. Route E11/E10 along the coast will take you to the UAE’s capital city, Abu Dhabi, which is only 78 miles southwest of Dubai. Bordering the UAE are Oman and Saudi Arabia, while across the Persian Gulf sits Iran. Surrounding / bordering Dubai, points of interest include Dubai Islands Beach, Waterfront Market, Al Mamzar Beach Park, Al Mamzer Beach, Sharjah Aquarium, Al Qasba (leisure center), Sahara Centre (shopping mall), City Centre Al Zahia (shopping mall), Arabian Center (shopping mall), City Centre Mirdif (shopping mall), Mushrif Park (swimming pool, green areas, horse / camel rides, 500-seat theater), Dubai Crocodile Park (zoo), Dubai Safari Park (zoo), IMG Worlds of Adventure (theme park), Global Village (theme park), Dubai Autodrome (car racing track), Dubai Sports City (sports complex), Trump International Golf Club, Dubai, The Els Club At Dubai Sport City (golf course), Jumeirah Golf Estates Golf & Country Club, Expo City Dubai (exhibition and trade center), NMC Royal Hospital, DIP, Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara (Sikh temple), Ibn Battuta Mall (shopping mall), Legoland® Dubai, Motiongate Dubai (theme park) and The World Islands. Dubai’s main airport is Dubai International Airport, while its subway system is Dubai Metro. Good to know is that Uber rideshare does operate in Dubai and encompasses the airport. Two of the Persian Gulf’s top cruise terminals are found at Dubai Harbour. Dubai’s best professional football club is Shabab Al Ahli Club, which plays at Rashid Stadium near Dubai International Airport on City of Gold’s north side. Regarding gold, it’s possible that you may encounter a customs inspection if and when you are carrying the precious metal upon departure. In case of an airport gold inspection, be sure to have any accompanying documentation handy, such as purchase receipts or certifications of authenticity. Depending on your country and other factors, there may a limit as to how much gold you can carry out with you through customs. And, if you are carrying gold upon departure, it might be wise to allow yourself more time in case of an inspection. Modest dress in religious areas and outside of tourist areas / beaches and respectful manners, especially during Ramadan, are advised in Dubai. In public areas, do not hold hands, hug, kiss or dance, and do not sext message via the telecom system or defame on social media, as these acts could result in up to 3 years in prison and/or a hefty fine. Although you may see ads for “massage outcalls”, be advised that prostitution is illegal in the UAE. In Dubai, currency is the United Arab Emirates dirham, cars travel on the right-hand side and the drinking age is 21 years old. Drinking in public places, such as in the street or on a public beach, is prohibited. Dubai top events include Dubai World Cup, Dubai Desert Classic, Dubai Tennis Championships, Dubai Shopping Festival (winter sales event), Dubai Design Week, Defected Dubai, Butterfly Carnival, Dubai Food Festival, Dubai Marathon, Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, Dubai Boat Festival and Dubai International Jazz Festival. Hotels in Dubai are some of the UAE’s, as well as the world’s, best accommodations. Before we get to hotels in Dubai, let’s take a look at some more background information on the area to help you along the way.
Archaeological findings at the Al-Ashoosh settlement (43 miles south of Dubai), the Al Sufouh locality (western Dubai) and the Saruq Al Hadid archeological site (Saih Al Salam desert-village area) suggest that humans have inhabited the Dubai area since at least the Bronze Age. Bronze Age trade between Mesopotamia (Iraq) and the Indus Valley Civilisation (Pakistan/Northern India), which extended to the Levant, is assumed to have existed. The Sumer, the earliest known civilization, referred to the UAE area as Magan, which was copper and bronze-rich. Roughly 5,000 years ago, as the coast receded inland, the Dubai area became covered in sand. 3rd and 4th century ceramics have been unearthed in the Dubai area, where Pre-Islamic peoples worshipped a minor deity named Bajir. The Umayyad Caliph conquered Southeast Arabia and drove out the Sasanian dynasty (Iran’s Sasanian Empire c. 224-651 AD) following the spread of Islam. Near Jumeirah, Dubai Museum archaeologists have discovered Umayyad artifacts. Arab-Andalusian geographer and historian Abu Abdullah al-Bakri, in his 1095 AD Book of Geography, was one of the first writers to mention Dubai. Venetian merchant, jeweler and author Gasparo Balbi visited and made reference to Dibei‘s pearling industry circa 1580. Modern Dubai is thought to have been established as a fishing village in the early 1700s. Around 800 members of the Bani Yas tribe, ruled by Sheikh Tahnun bin Shakhbut of Abu Dhabi, inhabited the area by 1822, at which time a British surveyor mentioned Dubai as an oval-shaped town surrounded by a mud wall, populated with goats and camels. At this time, the Dubai creek led to a village thoroughfare and also desert caravan routes. In 1833, as a result of tribal conflicts within Abu Dhabi, the Al Bu Falasah tribe left northward to establish themselves in Dubai, which would, in a few years’ time, lead to the establishment of the House of Maktoum (present-day ruling royal family). In 1819, Britain embarked from Bombay on a successful Persian Gulf campaign against Al Qasimi, one of the UAE’s longest-reigning royal families, to attack the town of Ras Al Khaimah. At the time, the waters near Ras Al Khaimah were known as “Pirate Coast”. The 1820 General Maritime Treaty between Dubai and the British government and other Trucial States stemmed from decades of Gulf maritime conflicts. The 1853 Perpetual Maritime Truce led to an agreement in 1892 that saw to the United Kingdom taking responsibility for northern UAE emirates’ maritime security. Dubai residents were forced to relocate east of Deira following an 1841 smallpox epidemic. A common theme among major cities, though at much earlier periods, fire broke out and destroyed much of Dubai circa 1896. More fires broke out in the following year and a female slave, caught in the act of arson, was put to death. Dubai was established as a free port, with no taxation on imports or exports, by Maktoum bin Hasher Al Maktoum in 1901. Merchants were given plots and were guaranteed protection and tolerance. Naturally, the free port improved Dubai’s position as a Gulf trading hub. A major setback occurred in 1908, however, when a “great storm” struck a dozen pearling boats, killing over 100 men. A British military action against suspected Dubai-based gun runners, the Hyacinth incident via HMS Hyacinth bombardments caused 37 fatalities. Prior to oil discovery, Dubai made a living as an important port of call. Iranian craftsmen in particular settled in the town near the historic Al Bastakiya district. Prior to the 1930s, Dubai had benefitted from the pearl trade. The 1929 Great Depression, however, decimated the pearling industry, and Dubai fell into a severe economic depression. An oil exploration contract was signed in 1937, which guaranteed royalty rights for Dubai as well as concessionary payments to Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum. World War II, however, would suspend oil drilling until 1966. Dubai and Abu Dhabi were forever at odds. A border dispute in 1947 escalated into war between the two emirates, which had to be arbitrated by the British government. From 1937-1966, absent of oil production, Dubai made due through trading activities in order to build infrastructure. Electricity, telephone services and port / airport operators were installed. In 1959, the city’s first master plan was drafted and the first hotel, Airlines Hotel, was constructed, followed by the Ambassador and Carlton Hotels circa 1968. British architectural construction firm Halcrow’s John Harris envisioned a city that would rise from the historic Dubai Creek center. Roads, zones and a town center could be constructed with relatively limited financial resources. Between 1959 and 1970, Dubai’s first airport opened, houses, office blocks and flats were built, the first bridge to cross Dubai Creek was constructed, the gold trade began to thrive, Dubai Airport’s asphalt runway was laid out and a new airport terminal was built, which included Dubai’s first duty-free shops. In 1966, oil was discovered in territorial waters off Dubai. “Fateh”, meaning “good fortune”, became the city’s first oil field. Between 1968 and 1975, Dubai’s population, due mostly to Asian and Middle Eastern immigrants, grew by over 300%. Although not as plentiful in oil as Abu Dhabi, Dubai benefitted greatly from its “Kazzans”, which ultimately were two offshore, 500,000-gallon oil storage tanks. 60 miles off-shore at the Fateh field, the Kazzans allowed oil supertankers to moor offshore and pipe oil directly, even in bad weather. The Kazzans were constructed by the Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, who built the Chicago Beach Hotel, which was demolished and replaced by Jumeirah Beach Hotel in the late 1990s. Of course, oil would help to define Dubai as one of the world’s most quickly built, and modernly impressive, cities. One might even say that modern Dubai was built not on sand, but oil, as oil had accounted for 24% of the city’s GDP by 1990. By 2004, however, GDP from oil dropped to 7%. Today’s tourism industry easily could be considered the city’s “modern oil”.
The United Arab Emirates’ most populous city and the Emirate of Dubai’s capital, Dubai is home to around 3.6 million ‘Emiratis’. Set directly within the Arabian Desert, Dubai’s topography differs from the southern UAE in that the Gulf Tiger’s landscape is more sandy than gravely. Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, towers above all-else downtown at 2,717 feet high, with 163 floors. The Emirate of Dubai is ruled by an absolute monarchy. One of only two UAE emirates not to conform to the country’s federal judicial system, the Emirate of Dubai is patrolled by the Dubai Police Force. In addition to regular police cars, Dubai’s law enforcement operates a fleet of exotic cars. Dubai is one of the world’s safest cities in terms of violent crime, though is considered one of the higher-ranking when it comes to white-colored crimes such as money laundering and bribery. In Dubai, you might catch a glimpse of abras (traditional wooden boat) and dhows (traditional sailboat) boats navigating the city’s waterways. Harboring a number of fish species from bluefish to barracuda, as well as several migratory bird species, Dubai Creek separates Deira district from Bur Dubai district. Farther offshore, prized sportfishing entails the likes of marlin (rare), sailfish, kingfish and tuna. Dubai desert wildlife includes the fairly rare Arabian Oryx (deer-like), as well as predators such as the Arabian wolf and striped hyena. Additional points of interest are Al Fahidi Fort, Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah (artificial islands), Dubai Spice Souk (spice market), Downtown, Dubai Media City and Dubai Tennis Stadium. Local foods include hummus, shawarma, falafel, labneh (a type of yogurt spread), manakish (similar to pizza) and shish taouk (marinated chicken kebab). Jellab is a classic Arabian drink that combines grape molasses and rose water, and is sometimes topped with pine nuts and raisins. In tourist areas, various cocktail concoctions are most popular. With some background information on the area, we’re ready for hotels in Dubai that will help make for an unforgettable experience.

So there they are, hotels in Dubai that will help make for an unforgettable trip. We hope you have found this information useful and most importantly, that you enjoy your time in the United Arab Emirates.
This article and review on penthouses in Dubai caught my eye for a special reason: I live here for much of the year! I know that it can be expensive for everyone in hotels and for living too as villas are not that cheap either. If you are coming to the place for a vacation, getting a penthouse is a wonderful way to enjoy the stay.
I was surprised at the rates for some of the penthouses, as they actually were less than I expected. For a good 4 or 5 star hotel here, you can pay $200 to $300 or more per night for a rather regular room. I used to stay often in hotels, so I know this from my own experience.
If you are with a larger party, a penthouse should definitely be a consideration I think. It will make your stay a lot more memorable. There are lots of things to do while in Dubai, and you will want to have a nice place to come back to when you are finished with an action-packed day.
Thank you very much for your insights Dave! Dubai is not an inexpensive stay if you demand luxury, but some diamonds in the rough at reasonable prices can be found as well for sure. The Underwater Suite at Atlantis might just be a must see!
Hi Admin
I don’t know what else to call you because I didn’t see a name. I just finished reading your post, Best Hotels Dubai – Penthouses. This is an excellent site to me. I was captivated by the all the beautiful pictures.
I found myself clicking links to see what does that look like! Why are you hiding who you are is there a reason for that?
You don’t have an About Me page, why? Trust me Admin you need one.
Great site really impressed.
Eric
Hi Eric and thank you for the recommendations! An About Me page is in the works, so please stay tuned. Your comments about the site are much appreciated.
Your welcome. Your site is such a wealth of travel knowledge. If I’m ever blessed to go to Dubai, I know exactly the site to go too make my plans.
Excellent! Thank you again Eric 🙂
WOW! I love it, Visiting Dubai is number 6 in my Bucket list 🙂
This are the Royalties Suites, but more option to choose from, not to expensive for sure. Beside the Suites you also describe the amenities and also includes the Restaurant near by.
This website is so Glamourous, I love it.
Thank you very much Mathessa! Really glad that you like the website and thank you for stopping by 🙂

I’m loving the penthouses in Dubai!
Though I most certainly wouldn’t be able to afford most of them, I am surprised to find out that there are still some affordable ones within the $500 range but what fun would that be if we’re going to Dubai. I am curious on Frond A’s pricing though, is there a rough price range to it to give us an idea? Say around $2-3k budget per person, or do you think it’s $5k per person?
Hi Riaz. Great question. Dream Inn – Getaway Villa will be about $973 per night and $93 per person. The post has been updated. Thanks again for stopping by!
Thanks for the penthouses list in Dubai. I have plan to go there on vacation next year, so this list is quite helpful. Although I personally like the setting of Dream Inn apartments, I may choose Kempinski over it. In my city, Kempinski apartment has been famous for giving the best service they can, and I have a personal experience staying there. I will discuss this with my friends. Thanks
Thank you for sharing your experience Alblue and for discussing with friends! Happy travels 🙂
Hi there, what more can we ask for right?. We love to travel and always invest a great deal of time planing a good vacations and provably more time looking for the best hotels. It looks like we have no place to look but this article, O don’t think there are a better places to stay in. Thank you for sharing these absolute beautiful hotels with us. You just make me want to go on vacations again.
Great article I love it.
Thank you so much Urbano! Glad to hear that you liked the information and that you are considering vacations again. Happy travels out there!
Dubai looks like such a great place to go to. Your website is great because it shows so many great and awesome places to go, and the great hotels you can use and go to for them. It gives so many ideas and options for hotels. I love it. I can’t wait to set up my next vacation in a few weeks. The hardest choice now is which one 🙂
Don definitely! Thank you for stopping by and happy travels 🙂
Another great list of penthouse!
Frond A Palm Jumeirah caught my eyes, it is so beautiful. And I am very amazed at the price, it’s very affordable. For such an expensive city, this is so good. I love the city, I do visit every year and I think that I will have to visit. Even my husband liked the place in the photo.
Thank you for sharing.
Hi Adyns and nice to see you again! So very glad that you and your husband liked the place in the photo and hope to see you again soon 🙂
Hi! I love the photographs! They’re gorgeous! Dubai has always been a dream destination for me as I’m interested in attended some of the horse races there someday! Perhaps with a stay at the Dream Inn, which looks beautiful in your photo! It’s hard to imagine these are hotels. Insanely pretty. Thanks for the article!
Thank you very much Selenity Jade. Dubai would be an excellent place to see a horse race someday.
Hi there! Until I found your site, I wasn’t even thinking of places like this. Me and a group of friends are just beginning the idea of going big on our next excursion. I’m intrigued by this possibility. What a memorable difference this could be. But I am curious, can you shed a little more info on the accommodations? More specifically are there multiple sleeping rooms in these penthouses? Are there any occupancy limits? In other words if my group of 8 were to reserve one of these penthouses, how would that stay playout. Thanks
Hi Frank, with a group of 8 people you might check out Dream Inn – Getaway Villa. If you can find 2 more people your cost would be about $93 per night each.
Hello,
The penthouses are so fabulous! I have never visited Dubaj, but If I go there once I would pick Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jumeirah one, which look so wonderful!
Thank you for sharing it, I love your articles, it always brings me a new insight into the possible living in the cities, which I would like to visit once.
Looking forward to your other post and have a great summer!
Bye Renata
Thank you very much Renata! Have a great summer as well 🙂
Well, it certainly appears to be a lifestyle for the rich and famous and prices most regular people out of the market. However, I can see where it could be very reasonable if you are making a group trip of at least six people who are all sharing in the cost.
Actually, I was surprised at how reasonable some of the penthouses actually are. My personal favorite would probably be the Frond A, Palm Jumeirah. It looks very nice but also has a very reasonable price point.
This is a very well constructed site and should spark much interest from your site visitors who are in the process of planning a trip to beautiful Dubai.
Best of luck with it!
Hi Ray and thank you! Your comments are much appreciated. Happy travels.
Very well put together! This site definitely makes me want to book a penthouse asap! So many beautiful places. Great job on the photos and the information. I would like to see a little information on the author, but other than that. Very clean, very nice! Job well done! Thank you for sharing.
Hi Tracy and thank you for the comments! Really glad that you appreciate the site and your recommendations are noted.
What an excellent page for luxury travel! My wife and I will be traveling to Dubai next year with another couple. We had not thought of a penthouse before, but this site has opened our eyes to the possibilities. With two couples, the prices are resonable considering the accomodations. Great website! Thanks for the article and for opeing our eyes to new possibilities.
Hi Mike you’re welcome! May your and your wife’s Dubai trip be an amazing one 🙂
To me, Dubai has always been a city of dreams for me to which I always fantasy about going to the place and exploring. I have heard and read a lot about the luxury that accompanies most buildings especially hotels and penthouses in the city. All the pent house suggested are all of excellent qualities with magnanimous prices. It would definitely be recorded in the list of things I must explore in life. Great post!
Rodger
Thank you Rodger!
Excellent review on Best Hotels Dubai – Penthouses, I thought the best hotel in Dubai is 5star hotel, with all that you have explained in this article,am convinced and I think when next I pay a visit to that country, this particular hotel would make use,You have done an excellent job for this educative article. Thank you.
Thank you Abayomi!
There are many attractions in Dubai that has been awed by a lot of people, from sand boarding, mosque visits, slope ski sessions to camel safari tour and hop-on-hop-off the bus tours – I mean there are wide varieties of activities to choose from. Most actors and tv personalities from Hollywood are also said to frequent this country for an extravagant vacation. It’s a common knowledge for all that hotels and buildings are designed to be luxurious looking and they take pride on it. I like how each of your hotel and penthouse recommendation are detailed with features and price. If ever me and my friends can push through our most awaited visit, I would probably choose Kempinski’ 4 bedroom apartment. I think it’s one of the most affordable. a stay in Dubai is really expensive but it’s worth the price. Thanks for sharing this!
Thank you MissusB and nice to see you again!
Enchanting is the first thing that comes to mind before I can even start to discuss your list; underwater rooms, private beaches, themed pools, is more than a mouthful to have in one list. What’s even more pleasantly surprising is that there is not one but two options that fall below the $100 mark with virtually a home setting! Incredible! Thanks for an awesome compilation.
We are Blessed.
Mark thank you and glad to see that you found these Dubai hotels both incredible and cost-effective in some cases. While Dubai is not the cheapest place you’ll find out there for your travels, it is one of the most unique in the world with its innovative architecture and infrastructure. It’s definitely a bucket list place and your thoughts about the area are spot-on. Thanks again and happy travels!
Wow, I imagine that the views from penthouse rentals in Dubai are similar to what one sees from an airplane! The buildings are just so crazy tall!
I probably would have assumed these were all too pricey for a stay, so thank you for including rental costs. There are some affordable options that are gorgeous that would be perfect for a small group traveling to Dubai!
Another great place to travel is Dubai, a very rich country. I picked my choices also; Atlantis The Palm, Dubai is look so stunning, you would really see the gold design connection . I like also the Dream Inn Apartments because of its modern design but with a twist of high and tall wood. What I love most is the Dream Inn Getaway Villa because of its touch of femininity design, also I can see the water view outside and the far buildings. Thank you for this, I will jot down this hotels and include in my bucket list.
