Hotels in Helsinki Finland

Hotels in Helsinki Finland are well-suited for an unforgettable luxury experience in a  city nicknamed “White City of the North”. Helsinki is known for its architecture, its laid-back lifestyle, its public saunas, its outstanding cuisine and its incredible waterways and views. Keep in mind that it’s polite not to stare, that the drinking age is 18,  and that the Finns like their saunas hot. Be sure to stay hydrated, especially after a night out. Finland is home to both the northern lights and to the legendary character Santa Claus. Hotels in Helsinki Finland are some of the best in all of Scandinavia. Before we get to hotels in Helsinki Finland, let’s take a look at some background information on the area to help you along the way.

Helsinki, Finland’s capital city, has a population of around 655,000 people. Tavastians, who used the area for fishing and hunting, occupied present-day Helsinki during the Iron Age. In 1550, King Gustav I of Sweden established the area as a trading town. In 1710, a plague killed most of its inhabitants. Russia, in 1809, defeated Sweden in the Finnish War, and thereafter the town began to develop into a more significant city, with Russian Emperor Alexander I moving the Finnish capital from Turku to Helsinki in 1812. The 1952 Olympic Games were held in the city, which aided development, though it wasn’t until the 1970s that Helsinki became truly urbanized.

The third-largest Nordic municipality, Helsinki is located near the Gulf of Finland. One of the world’s most livable cities, it has a humid continental climate, with high temperatures ranging from 70 degrees Fahrenheit in July to just below freezing in February. A major Nordic city, Helsinki is home to many fine museums, theaters, restaurants and venues. Major points of interest are Helsinki Cathedral, Kiasma, Aurinkolahti, Suomenlinna, Eläintarhanlahti, University of Helsinki, National Museum of Finland, Helsinki City Museum, Finnish National Gallery, Finnish National Theatre, Helsinki Music Centre, Senate Square and Helsinki Olympic Stadium. Finland’s national beverage is milk, while the most well-known alcoholic drinks are lakka, a liquor derived from cloudberry fruit, and mesimarja, which comes from brambleberries. Popular foods include rye bread, cheese, rice pies, salmon, cinnamon buns and seafood. Now that we have some background information on the area, it’s time for hotels in Helsinki Finland that are sure to help make for an outstanding experience.

  4. Helsinki, z=anither beautiful city that one will really want to be at. One cannot but marvel at the beauty of this awesome city. I like the way it really looks and the beauty it has as well. The first picture looked like a painting though. Still very nice. The capital city has nice penthouses and hotels. I must visit sometime

  5. Hello, I really want to first appreciate your effort in putting this great website together and writing this article. When going on vacation I try as much as possible to get the best out of it and I am going to Finland and straight to Helsinki. With the information you have given me, my entire vacation just became very interesting. Thank you very much

  6. Hi, this is a gorgeous hotel room, I am again shocked at how awesome the price is. I have never been to Europe, but I would love to check out the museums and history there.  I am not into nightclubs or any of that, but I do enjoy learning and seeing the sites.

This place looks like it is in within walking distance of everything you would need to have a great vacation experience. It still amazes me to look at this site and see that I can rent a penthouse for less then a normal hotel room (where I live at-least)

  7. I love the architecture of Finland, apart from the interesting sound of the Finnish language it seems like a beautiful country to explore. after seeing Hotel F6 in this article, I have to say that I don’t think I have ever seen a more modern looking and chic place to stay when on holiday I don’t cook at all, and having so many restaurants within the vicinity, it leaves me spoiled for choice. Bicycle usage is offered at this hotel which is amazing as I am a seasoned cyclist. Hotel F6 is priced well and definitely an option to consider.
