Hotels in Mykonos offer exceptional accommodations in a destination nicknamed “The Island of the Winds”. Known for its beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, Mediterranean cuisine, nightlife, shopping, Chora (main town) and iconic mascot, Petros the Pelican, Mykonos is located centrally within the Greek Isles in the Cyclades cluster. A place of both relaxation and high energy, Mykonos has some of the best beaches and best nightlife in the Greek Isles, with Paradise Beach Club being the island’s largest night club. When visiting Mykonos, keep in mind that you should avoid drinking tap water on the island, though brushing your teeth is okay. Be careful when walking at night as there minimal traffic/pedestrian lights. True to its nickname, the island can be windy at times. Currency is the Euro, cars travel on the right-hand side and the drinking age is 18 years old. Hotels in Mykonos are some of the Greek Isles’ best accommodations. Before we get to hotels in Mykonos, let’s take a look at some more background information on the area to help you along the way.
Mykonos has been controlled by the Romans, Venetians, Ottomans and Greeks, respectively. A reference to Greek mythology, the name Mykonos is tied to the god Apollo. Carians are thought to be the island’s original inhabitants. Following the fall of Constantinople in 1204 AD, Mykonos was occupied by the Venetian nobleman Andrea Ghisi. Direct Venetian rule ensued in 1390 as a result of a Catalan invasion. In 1537, The Ottoman Empire established itself on the island. The 1794 Battle of Mykonos was an initial cause for the 1821 Greek Revolution against the Ottoman Empire, with the Greek princess and heroine Manto Mavrogenous playing an important role. The Corinth Canal’s opening circa 1904, as well as WWI, caused economic decline. Following the World Wars, Mykonos prospered due to tourism, and the island became one of the Greek Isles’ most expensive by the 2000s.
Part of the Cyclades Greek Island cluster, Mykonos experiences a typical Mediterranean island climate, with sunshine for up to 300 days per year. Average summer temperatures stay around 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Points of interest include Municipal Library, Petros the Pelican, Mykonos Windmills, Little Venice, Armenistis Lighthouse, Tria Pigadia, Archaeological Museum of Mykonos, Aegean Maritime Museum, Folklore Museum, Lena’s House, Agricultural Museum and Panagia Paraportiani Church. Local foods are steak, lamb, grilled octopus, Greek salad, kopanisti (a spicy type of cheese), louza (a dish made from thin slices of spiced pork), ksinotira (also a cheese), sausages and other seafoods. Drinks include ouzo (a potent anise-flavored liquor), tsipouro (a type of brandy), wine and the non-alcoholic soumada (a sweet drink made from rose water). With a little background information on the area, we’re ready for hotels in Mykonos that are sure to inspire wanderlust.

Hi there. Thank you for sharing this post and guide on Mykonos Hotels. Out of numerous hotels to choose from, it is not an easy task to choose the best especially when one is not familiar with and have no knowledge about these hotels. It’s a relief that you have taken your time to put this guide together.
I can see that you have an high taste and eyes for good things. These selected ones are extreme beautiful. But the price tags on them are high anyways…
Shifts thank you for the comments. There is a mix of expensive and lower-cost hotels, all with excellent to outstanding quality, so something for everyone!
OMG!! I have traveled the Mediterranean on a cruise ship many years ago; and didn’t see Greece. I want to go back. This gives me all the information possible to get that to become a reality for me. I didn’t quite know how to go about knowing cost and all without asking AAA or something. I didn’t want to waste there time on a what if. I honestly can afford to do this and am so excited. I love too that I don’t have to guess what to go see; you covered that too! Thank you and bless you for putting all this information into a great site for me to view and show my honey. I know I will make it there its just a matter of a year and my feet will be on that beautiful land experiencing it all.
Dorri you should definitely go back and thank you for the comments!
The hotels Resorts and Villa look amazing. I now have a great urge to go on holiday to Mykonos. Being cold in the UK the thought of warm temperatures sounds like heaven.
The history was interesting.
It is very useful to know what is available and places to visit near each place shown.
I have to say, they certainly all did wow, even the cheapest was stunning and very enticing.
Really loved the villa at the end though, that was definitely the best. Having read this interesting article I would certainly be looking to visit Mykonos some time in the future.
Thank you, I will share on social media for others to enjoy.
Linda thank you for the comments and for sharing. Hope to see you back again soon 🙂
Oh my, I’m so in love with Greek! I have a plan to travel there next year with my friends, so your hotel suggestions here really help me to plan my itinerary. I personally love to stay at DeLight Boutique Hotel or Marlanena Villa. The views are really great, so I will check more information about those places and discuss it with my friends. Thanks
You’re welcome Alblue. Glad to be of help 🙂
Of a truth, I know that Greece is very beautiful and awesome but comparing the thoughts I had in my head and the various hotels I have seen listed here, I can only say that I’m impressed and thanks for sharing this topnotch places with us all. For me, I like the Bellissimo Resort the most. Utmost serenity and ambience of tranquility. Thanks
I’m not sure I have ever seen a place as beautiful and elegant as the Mykonos and it just seem to be that every site here seems to be just the perfect one and I kind of fancy how beautiful and elegant these hotels are. the Agios Ioannis seems to peak my interest with all those special and beautiful design and having the breath of the Mediterranean to wake you up sums it all up.
Lithos by Spyros & Flora seems to make me remember all those beautiful old memories of watching movies on the greek gods and seeing how their houses were and all, this is simply awesome. It beams of beauty and radiance and I can only say that, a night in this place would equal the one spent with the gods. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks again Rodarrick and glad to see you found value in the post!
What an astounding hotel with amazing landscape. Seems like I should make some plan to visit there at least once in my whole life.
Anyway, thanks for your guidance to let me know a recommended hotel to stay on.

The Mykonos Hotels among the Greek Island group known as the Cyclades. Breathtaking! Known as the “Island of the Winds”, these Hotels offer something in everyone’s price range.
Experience an enchanting chapter in life’s journey if but for only one glorious night. Posh, elegant accommodations with views of the Aegean. Beautiful “U” shaped shower entries, clean and pristine white furniture and walls with built-in archways. A once in a lifetime destination.

That’s what I usually in movies. Well, not anymore now.
