Hotels in Vienna

Hotels in Vienna offer chic accommodations in a destination nicknamed “City of Dreams”. Once home to demigods Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud, Vienna is known for its architecture, imperial traditions, opera balls, porcelain, glassware, classical music, coffee houses, wine bars, night clubs and wiener schnitzels. When traveling to Vienna, keep in mind that white wine is most common and served in one eighth or one quarter liter sizes, and that beer comes in “Seiterl” (large) or “Kruegerl” (very large) sizes. Austria’s currency is the Euro. The city’s best events include Vienna Festival, Viennale, Waves Vienna, Wien Modern, Donauinselfest, Grafenegg Festival, Summa Cum Laude Festival, Jazz Fest Wien, Hollywood in Vienna, World Bodypainting Festival, Christmas Market on Rathausplatz and Südsteiermark Classic Car Parade. The city’s professional football clubs are SK Rapid Wien, FK Austria Wien and First Vienna FC. American-style football team Raiffeisen Vikings Vienna has won five Eurobowl titles. Hotels in Vienna are some of the best in all of Europe. Before we get to hotels in Vienna, let’s take a look at some background information on the area to help you along the way.

Originally settled by Celtic tribes, the land that was known as the kingdom of Noricum, and now Austria, was incorporated by the Roman Empire into a Roman province. Bavarians, Slavs and Avars invaded the area following the collapse of the Roman Empire. Christianity was introduced circa AD 788 by Charlemagne, King of the Franks. Ostarrichi dates to 996, and is the first record of the name Austria. From the late 13th century until World War I, the area was ruled by the House of Habsburg. Archduke Franz Ferdinand‘s assassination in 1914 was the catalyst for World War I. Anschluss, or the annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany, occurred on March 12, 1938. During World War II, Austria was renamed briefly to “Ostmark”. Following World War II, the city was divided into American, British, French, and Soviet zones. Austria regained full independence on May 15, 1955 by way of the Austrian State Treaty.

Vienna, with a population of around 1.9 million people, is the largest city and federal capital of Austria. Referred to also as the City of Music, Vienna hosts a number of classical and contemporary music festivals. The last bastion of the 19th-century ball, Vienna has a long-standing tradition of ballroom dancing. A Viennese carnival season highlight is the Opera Ball, which takes place at the Vienna State Opera on the Thursday before Ash Wednesday. Known for its high quality of life, Austria’s capital has been ranked multiple times as the world’s most livable city, and is one of the wealthiest areas in the European Union. Vienna attracts over 6.8 million tourists annually. It has an oceanic climate, with summer high temperatures averaging around 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and winter highs in the upper 30s. So there they are, hotels in Vienna that will help make for an incredible trip. We hope you have found this information valuable and most importantly, that you enjoy your time  in Austria!

25 Replies to “Hotels in Vienna”

  1. I like the Luxury Living Penthouse the most. It’s beautiful and it feels more like home to me. On the other hand, SKY9 Penthouse Apartments are close to the train station, so it will be easier to visit other cities. And Modern Penthouse is so bright.

    I don’t know, it’s difficult to choose only one… 🙂

  2. All I can say is wow these are pretty amazing with there own flair and style. I believe living like this will make your trip even more exciting as you get a taste and a feel of the good life. These penthouses are just fabulous and will give you a real bang for your buck. I am sure that your readers will love what you are sharing.

  3. Enjoying a rooftop view in a historical European City that a Penthouse Suite provides a unique connection to the city. And Vienna is no exception. Can you imagine having a Penthouse suite in  the San Fernando Valley of LA? No contest. Our home is situated on a hillside there and all we can see are bland rooftops, freeways and trees.

I have once concern about Penthouses in general. Especially in Europe. Do they all have elevators? I assume they do because the cost to rent one of these I am sure is quite expensive.

Talking about expense, this can be justified if a family rents one. Or a group of friends traveling together. The variety of Penthouses you have offered in Vienna is amazing. They all have great amenities and fantastic locations. I also like the option of having a place with high ceilings. I preferred units that had windows looking straight out to provide rooftop views. I am not partial to ones that only have skylights. I like my bedroom to have city views rather than sky views. And there were those that did meet this preference of mine.

My favorite one was the Vienna Calling Penthouse because it had a spacious terrace filled with outdoor furniture. Great place to relax with a cocktail or glass of wine while enjoying the breezes and city rooftop views.

I only wish I was on a flight to Vienna with a reservation at one of these Penthouses of my choice.

    1. Hi Edwin, when clicking the links it should let you know if the building offers elevator access. They do look amazing don’t they!

  4. Hi,
The Vienna Calling Penthouse looks really interesting to me. In particular, I am an avid cyclist, and would enjoy travelling all around the city and exploring the sites via bicycle. Do you recommend that, or is it better to take other forms of transportation?
I was fortunate to travel to Belgium a few times, and so many people commuted and traveled around the city (Brussels and Leuven) on their bicycles. Is Vienna similar to that, or do the canals change that scenario?
I find your blog to be inspiring and motivating to go back to Europe.
    Thanks,
    Bobby O.

  5. Hi Pentrental

I really liked this post your cover photo the Lacknergasse 32, 17. Hernals was tight. I could see myself staying in that for a while.  Also, I liked the Löwengasse 19, 03. Landstraße I would love to wake up that view. I can see myself out there chilling sipping on something cold. Love your stuff man keep it up.

    Much Success

    Eric

  6. I love the Luxury Living Penthouse “habsburgergasse” In Vienna the wood style fixture is beautiful, and so relaxing, I could stay there forever. I like the way the pictures capture the lighting in the rooms making each features show it’s true beauty, which I think is the high selling point of each of these penthouses.
I agree with Edwin, “I only wish I was on a flight to Vienna with a reservation at one of these Penthouses of my choice.”

  7. I really like the GoVienna Luxury Penthouse the best. With the modern architecture of the window/skylights bringing in plenty of light it gives a majestic atmosphere that royalty lives here. I am torn between this penthouse and the huge room that is in store at the modern Penthouse. With 3 bedrooms it would make a fabulous place for a small group that could be close yet sleep privately. Both penthouses have plenty of shops to visit during the day and restaurants to dine in. Decisions, decisions.

  8. These beautiful structures in Austria are mind blowing! The designs are similar to designs of apartments inside buildings here in the states. When I lived in Chicago, that luxurious area was called ‘the Magnificent Mile.’ The buildings along the ‘Magnificent Mile’ cater to wealthy commercial and residential owners.

I don’t know if certain areas in Austria cater to certain clientele according to financial status, but here in the USA they separate the rich from the poor. You can only purchase property and luxury units according to income. So in other words, nothing comes cheap!

  9. Wow, this just keep getting better and better. I’ve heard quite alot of fun things about Austria and I really wnat to visit with my family vacation but a good place to stay have been heavy on my mind. Seeing these penthouses gives me so much satisfaction on where to stay. I’d love to visit Austria around December, how do I make a reservation/booking?

  10. What a fantastic looking site. The layout is especially pleasing with stunning photos. I was instantly impressed and wanted to search for destinations. I can see you have so much potential to expand your destinations and certainly build on what is already an awesome site. You have chosen a good selection of hotels in each area. There are those that I could only dream about and those that Mr Average would be pleased to stay in. You also linked some really good local sights and experiences to your hotels which draws the viewer into your site. Well done.

    1. David thank you so much for the kind words and comments and hopefully you get to visit one of these hotels in Vienna Austria soon!

  11. I have been to Austria many times as it is right next door to Germany.  We have always stayed in Bed & Breakfasts, and they have always been wonderful.  I do think I would not mind staying at  the Floridsdorfer Hauptstraße 34.  The price is right, and I like the location.  Do you know if any of these hotels are near any of the castles?  I love going to castles, fascinates me.

  12. Hi there!

These hotels are so amazing! Some of the designs are luxury and noble while some others are simple and clean. I wish to change my hotel everyday when I have a chance visit to Vienna! Although I love them all, but my personal favorite will be the penthouse at Habsburgergasse. It is simple but luxury and it looks almost the same with my dream house’s design! We cannot deny that one of the great things when we are travelling is that we can “live in a new home/room” for a few days.

Thanks for your sharing. Your post is very useful for me.

  13. Wow can’t stop looking, the site are so fantastic, the apartment are so awesome just take a look at the interiors, the furniture, the lights it’s just like a royal Palace and one that is so overwhelming is the top view  u can poetically see the city. Penthouse  is really doing a nice work. I hope someday I will have the opportunity to visit and feed my eyes with all this beautiful structures.

  14. Hello there thanks for this insightful review it was really helpful. Vienna is one city in Australia I would love to visit. They have the best hotels in the country. As the capital city of one of the world’s richest nations, you might expect Vienna to be expensive. But it’s not bad compared to the likes of London and usually slots into the EU at just above average, price-wise. You might want to consider the price before booking however
