Hotels in Warsaw

Hotels in Warsaw offer favorably-priced, outstanding accommodations in a destination nicknamed “Phoenix City”, so-named for the city’s resiliency. As fine a place as any to observe an alluring mix of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, neoclassical and contemporary architecture, Warsaw is literally and figuratively the heart of Poland and located as such. Essentially, the Phoenix City is the first bastion that separates western and eastern Europe. When visiting Warsaw, remember not to refer to it as Eastern Europe, not to consume alcohol in public places, and not to cross the street without minding crossing signals. Cars drive on the right side and the official currency is the zloty. Generally-speaking, Poles are some of the world’s friendliest people, though they are not overly tolerant of things like rudeness or ignorance. Before visiting, it might be a good idea to brush up on some Polish customs, and even learn a bit of the language. Warsaw’s biggest events are Orange Warsaw Festival, Warsaw Film Festival, International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition and Warsaw Autumn, while venues include Progresja and EXPO XXI Warszawa. Hotels in Warsaw indeed are some of the best in central Europe. Before we get to hotels in Warsaw, let’s take a look at some background information on the area to help you along the way.

Warsaw’s status as a capital city can be traced to 1596 as a result of the Polish-Swedish Union. Polish King Sigismund III Vasa moved his court from Krakow to the area due to its central location. In the city’s early years, private and independent districts,  ruled by their own laws, were set up and comprised of noble aristocrats, their land, and the gentry social class below them. Soon thereafter, these city districts were besieged by Swedish, Brandenburgian and Transylvanian forces. During the late-17th century, Warsaw became an early-capitalist city under the reign of Augustus II. In 1795, the city was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia, becoming the capital of South Prussia. Warsaw was liberated by Napoleon in 1806. In 1815, however, it was taken under Russian control, which lasted for 100 years. In 1915, the area was attacked by German forces during World War I. The 1920 Battle of Warsaw resulted in Polish and Ukrainian People’s Republic forces  retaking the city from Russia. The 1920 Battle of Warsaw resulted in a decisive Polish victory.  Poland remained in control of its country until late-1939, when the Siege of Warsaw marked the beginning of World War II. After World War II, Poland once again succumbed to Russian control by way of the Eastern Bloc. Pope John Paul II, during the early 1980s, started a movement toward liberal-democratic reforms, paving the way for Poland’s return to its 17th-century, capitalistic roots.

With a population of around 1.7 million people, Warsaw is the capital and largest city in Poland. Flowing through the city’s east-central region, the Vistula River represents Poland’s largest river. Throughout Poland, the Vistula is lined with historical buildings and castles. Examples are the Basilica Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, Toruń Castle, Kwidzyn Castle and Gniew Castle.  The Warsaw Stock Exchange, founded in 1817, is the largest exchange in Central and Eastern Europe. Along with Frankfurt, London and Paris, Warsaw is a European Union city with a high number of skyscrapers. Varso, a neomodern office building complex, is Poland’s tallest building. Legia Warsaw, one of Poland’s most successful professional football teams, has won 13 titles, with 7 of those titles coming after the year 2000. Warsaw’s symbol is the mermaid, which can be found on statues throughout the city, as well as on its coat of arms.  During summer, Phoenix City temperatures average in the high 60s degrees Fahrenheit. Major points of interest include Teatr Wielki, the Polish National OperaChamber operaNational Philharmonic HallNational TheatreCongress Hall, National TheatreGrand TheatreNational MuseumMuseum of the Polish ArmyŁazienkiWilanówCarroll Porczyński Collection MuseumWarsaw Uprising MuseumWarsaw FotoplastikonChopin MuseumUjazdów CastleZachęta and National Stadium. Popular foods include Pierogis, Placki Ziemniaczane or potato pancakes, Gołąbki aka cabbage roll, Łazanki a type of pasta, Kotlet Schabowy or breaded pork cutlet, Barszcz aka Polish red borscht, Rosół or chicken soup, Placki Ziemniaczane which are potato pancakes and Pączki or Polish donuts. Keep in mind that 18 is Poland’s legal drinking age. Vodka is the most common alcoholic ingredient you’ll find in bars. Lager beer and wine are also popular, though some might consider Baltic porter to be Poland’s national beer.. Now that we have some background information on the area, it’s time for hotels in Warsaw that will help make for an outstanding trip.

  1. I love to travel. I don’t know that I would be traveling to Poland but I do know people who travel overseas.
These hotels are beautiful and I would definitely stay in any of them.
I like quiet and comfort here in the states and I would want the same there.
These hotels are really high end.
I wouldn’t have to stay in the most lavish hotel but it would be awesome.
The Chocimska 4, Mokotow might be my choice out of them all. But my sister travel abroad and I will pass this on to her.
What are the prices of these hotels?

    1. Thank you for the comment Rob! These are really awesome places indeed and glad you found Chocimska 4, Mokotow to your liking. Prices are always changing so following the links is your best bet. Cheers!

  2. Wow, thanks for compiling this list of penthouses which I could use as reference when me and my friends come to Warsaw, Poland. But yeah, I’d have to convince them first to go there and help me plan out an itinerary. With these kinds of luxury rentals though, do you have an idea of how much they cost?

    1. Hi Dominic, thank you for commenting! Pricing depends on when you book and changes based on demand. Thanks for your input here and safe journeys out there!

  3. I love these hotels! I haven’t been to Poland, but if I do – I will certainly look up your website again.  Thank you for creating this article, it is so hard to find information all on one site about accommodation and what’s in the area. Brochures mention a couple of things here and there. But your guide is great! Thank you!

    1. Thank you again Shelley Ann for your kind words! So glad you found value in a concise list of the very best Warsaw penthouse accommodations and attractions. All the best to you!

  4. Good and informative news on here when traveling. I was thinking to see one day Warshaw us I know how beautiful the city is just never seen before. Probably worth to try, or just let the youngest explore new opportunities in Europe. Great article and pictures to explore hotels

Thank you so much for sharing with us

  5. These are some really nice places. I have stayed in some nice -but small- hotels. To have an entire penthouse to roam around in would be spectacular.

Are any of these penthouses family or pet-friendly? Is housekeeping offered with rental or is that extra? Is there an optimal season to book one?
Also, how long can you reserve the penthouses?

Thanks for the info and I am adding Poland to my list of places to see.

    1. Hi Gwendolyn, Artistic Penthouse allows pets on request, and housekeeping typically is included, however it might be best to contact the host beforehand to make sure. You may rent a penthouse for as long as you wish, as long as it’s available. Thanks for stopping by!

I have to say all of these houses look great. I like all of them but I think the Chocimska 4, Mokotów is the one I would like to go for. It’s beautiful. I like the layout, the overall design. It’s an hotel to put in mind for my next travel to poland.

Thanks for sharing this. Quite helpful.

  9. Hi,

Never been to Poland, but hopefully wants to visit someday.

I prefer staying at the Antique Varsovia Penthouse, looks so homey, plus close to restaurants and tourist attractions.

It’s really important staying at places close to where you want to visit so travel is not a hustle.

I wonder if they allow cooking in these places? If you’re in a travel budget, you might want to cook home meals, right?

    Thanks for this great information.

    Marita

    1. Thank you for the comment Marita! Your choice in Antique Varsovia Penthouse is a very solid one. Almost all of the penthouses you will find on here will have a fully-equipped kitchen, so yes that would be great for finding some local grocers or butchers to cook on your own. Happy travels out there!

  10. Hi there,

This very helpful information to travellers like me.  I would love to visit Poland some time.   The penthouses are perfectly designed in a way that can make one feel home away from home.  They’re very attractive to families or friends.  The arrangements could also be good for business executives.

    All the best.

  11. I have never been to Poland but this site enticed me to go.  What beautiful homes.  Even if it is for a week, it would be great. Poland has many beautiful sites too.  Thank You for the information.  Is the name Pentrental, an actual penthouse or a made up name?  Best, Krista

    1. Hi Krista, thank you for the comments. Poland is a beautiful place when you start to really look at it. Pentrental is not an actual penthouse but more of a brand name. It’s nice to see you and stop back any time!

  15. Wow, I recently came in contact with a family of 4 who are processing thier visa with me and are traveling to Poland two days ago. I’ve seem lots of hotel to be suggested but I’m particularly interested in 72a sienna, Wola. It seem to fit the description I got from them. Thanks for this is information

  16. These rentals and Warsaw look like amazing places to visit and stay. I love the idea of renting a penthouse for a group of people and thank you so much for saving me the step of calculating what the nightly rate works out to be per person! It’s easy to see just how affordable it can be for a group to have top notch lodging at some of the world’s best locations. I’m definitely looking forward to traveling again – thanks for the great inspiration!

    1. Aly you’re welcome and yes we are all looking forward to traveling again! Hotels in Warsaw Poland offer some fine, spacious accommodations, and Warsaw’s penthouses are a mix of some of the best and most reasonably priced in Europe.

  17. Warsaw has always held a strange fascination for me. I think it stems from childhood. I used to listen to the radio, late at night. If I was bored I would search the entire waveband for something interesting. Occasionally, I would happen across Radio Warsaw. It seemed somehow exotic, certainly to an eleven year old.

Now, of course I know that to be true. From your description alone, you can see that the city is steeped in history, luckily, much of it is still present and visible, in the incredible architecture.

A fleeting visit would require no more than a quick and convenient stop over. I would prefer to spend more than a day or two and for that I would like to immerse myself in the city. I like the idea of being able to look out of the window and imagine how the view would have been, in days gone by. The Mondrian Market Square apartments would be ideal.

    1. Twack that’s very interesting and a great story about Radio Warsaw, thanks for sharing. Looking out the window to imagine how things in Warsaw might have went throughout history would be an interesting perspective indeed. You could get a good idea by visiting any of the remaining castles, or some of the historic buildings that survived battles. Warsaw has lots of, often turbulent, history to muse over. Hotels in Warsaw Poland especially in consideration of penthouses offer amazing such views. Mondrian Market Square Luxury Apartments near Old Town Market Place Warsaw are ideal indeed, well positioned and highly regarded, a fine choice!

    1. Evans the pricing can be found below each listing and simply clicking the links will take you to the booking pages. Thanks for the comments

  19. Poland is not among the popular tourist destinations. So I have wondered if Warsaw is worth visiting. You may have also wondered this so I would like to share my 2 cents on this. Warsaw offers many things to do and see and has everything you want when you’re going on a city break. It has incredible landmarks; beautiful old town streets and squares; lively parks and gardens; cool museums and hearty local food. I think that 2 days in Warsaw is the perfect amount of time. It would be the least to explore the historic city center, get an eye-opening history lesson at several museums, and sample some local food.

  20. Warsaw is a place that I have always wanted to see so I read this article with great interest.  This city is steeped in history, which is a primary interest of mine!  I appreciate your notations of what’s near-by patrons can make sure they can choose a neighborhood that has things that will interest them, as driving in an unknown city (and country) can be inconvenient.  While the price of some of these luxury places is quite high, your per-person cost makes it clear that they can be afforded if traveling with a group.  Thank you for posting this great information!
