Hotels in Las Vegas

Hotels in Las Vegas offer wonderful accommodations in a destination nicknamed “Sin City”. Located in southern Nevada and known for its high energy entertainment, restaurants, nightlife, gambling, pool parties and professional sports teams of late, Las Vegas is bordered by Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area to its immediate west, and Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area to its immediate south. Las Vegas upscale suburbs include Summerlin, where TPC Summerlin hosts the Shriners Open, and Henderson, which is home to many outstanding accommodations and attractions as referenced below. Notable locales in proximity to Las Vegas include Lake Mead (30 miles southeast), Pioneer Saloon (30 miles southwest), Hoover Dam (35 miles southeast), Valley of Fire State Park (45 miles northeast), Area 51 (80 miles north), Grand Canyon (120 miles east) and Lake Havasu (150 miles south). When traveling to Las Vegas, keep in mind that mid-summer can be extremely hot, with the record-high recorded at 118 degrees Fahrenheit. Generally, nights are much cooler relative to daytime and can be quite pleasant. It may be a good idea to rent a car, as attractions outside of the Strip tend to be spread out. If partying/drinking, be safe and remember that rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft are readily available throughout the area. Las Vegas professional sports teams include the Las Vegas Raiders, which plays at Allegiant Stadium just southwest of the Strip, the Vegas Golden Knights, which plays at T-Mobile Arena along the Strip’s south side and the Las Vegas Aces, which plays at Michelob Ultra Arena, also on the Strip’s south end. Big events include World Series of Poker, Cirque du Soleil, NASCAR Cup Series, Epicurean Affair, Downtown Brew Festival, EDC Las Vegas, Exodus Festival Las Vegas, iHeart Radio Music Festival, Life is Beautiful Festival, When We Were Young Festival, Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend, Big Blues BenderLovers & Friends Fest and Great American Foodie Fest. Hotels in Las Vegas are some of the best in the southwestern United States. Before we get to hotels in Las Vegas, let’s take a look at some more background information on the area to help you along the way.

Archaeological findings suggest that humans, beginning with nomadic Paleo-Indians, have been active in the Las Vegas area for at least 10,000 years. After Paleo-Indians came Ancient Puebloan and Paiute tribes. The first non-Native American to encounter the Vegas valley was Rafael Rivera circa 1829, also a point in time when trader Antonio Armijo led a 60-man party along the Old Spanish Trail through the area en-route to Los Angeles. “Las Vegas” is Spanish for “the meadows”. Finding abundant wild grasses and a desert spring, the traders found respite in an otherwise oppressive climate. In 1844, John C. Fremont arrived in the area and helped lure pioneers through his writings. Old Mormon Fort became the first structure to be built by people of European descent. Mormons, at one point in time, settled in what is now the Hoover Dam area. Las Vegas was incorporated in 1911. Casino gambling was legalized in Nevada circa 1931, which was also the year the Hoover Dam started construction. In 1941, Las Vegas Army Airfield was established and was subsequently renamed to Nellis Air Force Base in 1950. On December 26, 1946, Bugsy Siegel opened The Flamingo. Nuclear weapons testing began at the Nevada Test Site in 1951, prompting the city’s nickname “Atomc City”, a time when Las Vegas residents and visitors could visually witness mushroom clouds. Betty Willis created the iconic “Welcome to Las Vegas Sign” circa 1959. In 1995, the Fremont Street Experience opened in the Vegas downtown area. Fremont Street also marks the location of Vegas’ first hotel, the Hotel Nevada, which opened in 1906 and is now Golden Gate.

The largest city in Nevada, Las Vegas is home to around 700,000 “Nevadans”.  Unique to this USA desert city, and among its main draws, are its mix of gambling, entertainment, fine dining, shopping, nightlife and sporting events. Known as a major resort city, Las Vegas also is a top-three USA destination for conventions. Las Vegas Convention Center, or “LVCC”, ranks as the United States’ third-largest convention center at 2,500,000 square feet. Sin City has the world’s most AAA Five Diamond hotels, and is also one of the world’s most visited cities. The area’s climate is subtropical hot desert, with hot summers and mild winters. On average, 310 days per year are sunny in Vegas. While July and August mid-day temperatures can be oppressive, Las Vegas generally benefits greatly from a lack of humidity. Other points of interest include Stratosphere Tower, World Market Center, Golden Nugget Tank PoolLas Vegas Springs Preserve, Las Vegas Arts DistrictNeon Museum, Mob Museum, Las Vegas Natural History Museum, Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Symphony Park and University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  Vegas is known for its wide range of quality fare, with popular foods to include prime rib, shrimp cocktails, Chilean sea bass, Maine lobster rolls, cannoli, chicken and waffles and more. Additionally, its many casino-themed alcoholic beverages help make Las Vegas one of the world’s best dining cities. Now that we have some background information on the area, it’s time for hotels in Las Vegas that will help make for an unforgettable experience.

  1. Hello there, thanks for this awesome article it would be of great help to the public as it has been of help to me..I have always wanted to go to Las Vegas but I haven’t really made out time….but I have heard alot about Las Vegas so I planned a vacation form April this year……thanks once again… because I have been thinking of the accommodation that is the different hotels I would be lodging in throughout my stay and I think I would go with Trump international and the Palazzo

    thanks alot…. NELSON

  2. Thanks a lot for such an amazing review about Hotels in Las Vegas Nevada and explanations are given.

I plan to visit Las Vegas Nevada with my longtime friend. So I searched for accommodations on the internet. We will have no budget for these accommodations, but they are wonderful. A very good article.

Thanks again and keep in touch.

  3. The post is magnificent because I love Las Vegas. I’ve watched a lot of movies and documentaries about Las Vegas. It’s really magnificent and a big city full of fun and commercials. I like Hotels in Las Vegas, especially the Dream Penthouse at Palms Place. one day to see it live. I think when a person watches live it’s even nicer.

  4. Hi,

Thanks for putting this list together. I’ve never been to Vegas, but I’ve considered visiting this year.

The hotels you presented look luxurious. I don’t usually stay in this kind of hotels, but I do understand it’s Vegas. My uncle and aunt visited last year and they loved it. They stayed at The Palazzo I believe.

I will bookmark this article for future reference. Thanks a lot!

  5. When putting together a retirement bucket list with all of the places you want to visit, you’d think it would be a hard task. Not really, my list is pretty long and Las Vegas is right up there on the ‘short’ version.

Being able to get to see all the places you want to see is only going to be down to one thing, being able to afford it all, and still have enough funds to enjoy it. Once you factor in flights between destinations, it can soon add up. Keeping the fixed prices down helps.

You have some wonderful venues that have amazing facilites. More pleasing were the range of prices. As I was working my way through tem all I intially thought that if we wanted prime location it was going to cost us. Then I found ‘The Carriage House’ It has everything we need, is close to the heart of the city and isn’t going to break the bank, even if it’s just the two of us. Might end up being more but for now we can cost it on two. Very impressive.

  6. Hello again, I really want to want to first appreciate your effort in putting this great website together and writing this article. While going through your articles I always find new places I desire to visit with little knowledge about them. This article brought somewhere familiar and I am so glad. I have visited the dreams penthouse at palms place a couple of times and it is indeed as you have described

  7. Hey, Your guide on Hotels in Las Vegas Nevada are very helpful. From your article I know that Las Vegas is a top three USA destination for conventions, with the most AAA Five Diamond hotels in the world, as well as one of the most visited cities in the world. While coming to Las Vegas, we will stay in Trump International Hotel Las Vegas or The Carriage House. You are doing awesome work for travelers by helping them to find the best hotels.

  8. I believe every person has their happy place – a place that fits them just right, and works with every aspect of their life. Vegas works very well for me, I loved living there. I lived there since when I was a kid. At 12, my family relocated to LA because of my dad’s job.

I can tell that Las Vegas is just an amazing place to be because of its nightlife, entertainment, shopping, and lots. They have so many exotic hotels that fits into anyone’s personality just like the ones listed above. If travelling in group, then anyone can find the above hotels very useful as they come with affordable prices and awesome features.

  9. Hiya Admin

Thanks for your thorough and informative article about hotels in Las Vegas. I didn’t know that the name was Spanish for ‘the meadows’ Is there any grass left still? I like that you include options for different budgets. My interest in Las Vegas is high at the moment as I intend to win a trip to there.

I liked the look of the 1610 Lake Las Vegas Parkway hotel so much that I’ve downloaded the pic as somewhere I’d like to stay. Hope that’s ok I’m also bookmarking your site for future reference. Thanks for giving me lots of options to help me make an informed choice, krs PurpleLioness

  10. I like this ide of a topic, it is more informative and could be huge… those sites you usually visit does not have this kind of information and there are a massive amount of clicks to get to what you want, this is amazing for helping people find what they are looking for.

The site in general looks very pro and If I was about to go to vegas it would help me alot.. to bad I live in Sweden but maybe next year 😉

    1. Andreas thank you for the comments all the way from Sweden! If you can make the trip next year it is sure to be a memorable experience. Thank you for the comments

  11. I have often wondered why Las Vegas is lauded as a great destination for a family holiday. This article has put all my curiosity to rest. It is clearly a nightlife city with outstanding entertainment. The city thrives on this.

No wonder the hotel industry has been very quick to capitalize on this. I think these hotels are all world class, but I’m particularly impressed by the grand canal shoppes.

Thanks for this really fun and informative post.

    1. Rhain glad to hear that your curiosity has been put to rest and that you are impressed by Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian

  12. Going to Las Vegas is the dream for every traveler and I am not an exception.

Once I read, Las Vegas looks the way you’d imagine heaven must look at night. – Chuck Palahniuk.

Indeed, it’s hard to imagine a bigger desert oasis than Las Vegas. I read a lot of posts about Las Vegas in the past but your’s gave me great insights. Those posts are about spending money in Las Vegas but yours is about saving money. I appreciate all the efforts and research you did for providing this helpful post.

I am planning to visit Vegas next year so this post means a lot to me. The history you shared about Vegas is informative. The Carriage House is the one I am interested.

    1. Paul thank you for pointing out that the post is more about saving money, absolutely. Glad to hear that you are interested in The Carriage House and thanks for stopping by!

  13. Las Vegas is a place that I have visited for business and pleasure many times over the decades, but I have not stayed at any of the places that you have recommended. I plan on making at least one more trip there this year, so I definitely will try one that you highlighted.

The prices for stays are also within reason at all of them when considering the locations and the level of rooms and services that you can get. I likely will not go with the most expensive option, rather one of the middle-of-the-road priced locations. That way I will have more money for shows! I am thinking of the Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa. Thanks for the great review article!

    1. More money for shows is wise Steve, and Hilton Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa is an excellent choice. Nice to see you again and happy travels!

  14. Hi There,

    Thanks for the insight!!

    It was really needed,

I love the layout and design of your website by the way : )

I think this post is a great way to help people who will be travelling to Las Vegas soon or for those who are just curious for the future, like me, It would be a dream to visit Las Vegas, High hopes for the future!!

    Thanks Again..

  15. I have never been to Las Vegas, as I am not much of a gambler, however I have heard that there is plenty else to do between the shows and incredible food. My mother was out there recently on business. I’ll have to ask her what she thought as a whole. I like that you showcase a mix of the more well-known places, like the Waldorf Astoria and the Bellagio, and some less well-well known. I feel it really gives people options when booking a trip there! Thanks!

    1. Steve, Vegas has evolved into much more than gambling, especially with the Raiders coming to town, as an example. It is a hub for entertainment and, yes, cuisine as well. Thank you for the comments!

  16. Hello, Thanks a lot for such an amazing review about Hotels in Las Vegas Nevada and explanations are given. I’ve watched a lot of movies and documentaries about Las Vegas. It’s really magnificent and a big city full of fun and commercials. I like Hotels in Las Vegas, This article brought somewhere familiar and I am so glad. I have visited the dreams penthouse at palms place a couple of times and it is indeed as you have described

    1. Hi Naksh thanks for confirming that Dream Penthouse at Palms Place is as described. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Leaving Las Vegas, two classics!

  17. Ah Las Vegas, I call it the city of sparkling lights. This city never sleeps. It’s a really beautiful place to catch fun but it’s a really fast place though. There’s a lot to see over there and this detailed article about hotels in the city will help me get started on what lodging accommodation I should get and where to find it when I get there.

i really hope to go Lo Las Vegas sometime this year, and am sure going to have lots of fun down there.

    1. Samikingss no doubt about it you’ll have fun, and hopefully not too much! Really, it’s a beautiful, fast place, and be sure to check out the surrounding natural environment if you get the chance.

  18. The Trump International Hotel Las Vegas is a 64-story hotel. It’s named for Donald Trump. People from all around the world would like to visit this hotel. Trump has left a deep stamp when it comes to architecture. Thanks for including his hotel in your post. It has encouraged me to plan vacations there.
