Hotels in Dubai

Hotels in Dubai provide some of the Middle East’s most luxurious accommodations in a destination nicknamed “Gulf Tiger” and “City of Gold”. One of the world’s most innovative cities, Dubai is also a great place to buy gold. Keep in mind that there is a limit on how much gold one may carry out of the city. Currently the limit is 10 kilograms, while most tourists purchase 1 kilogram or less, which is the maximum weight allowed through customs without having to pay a fee. Luxury shopping, the beach, bustling nightlife, modern architecture, adventurous recreation and delectable cuisine are all reasons to visit this major Middle Eastern city. When traveling to Dubai, one should dress modestly and be respectful especially during Ramadan. Currency is the United Arab Emirates dirham and the legal drinking age is 21 years old. Be aware that it is illegal to drink in the street or in a public area. Top events include Dubai World Cup, Dubai Desert Classic, Dubai Tennis Championships, Dubai Shopping Festival, Dubai Design Week, Dubai Food Festival, Dubai International Film Festival, Dubai Marathon, Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, Dubai Boat Festival and Dubai International Jazz Festival. Dubai’s best professional football club is Shabab Al Ahli Club, which plays its games at Rashid Stadium near Dubai International Airport on the city’s north side. Hotels in Dubai are indeed some of the best in the United Arab Emirates. Before we get to hotels in Dubai, let’s take a look at some more background information on the area to help you along the way.

Established as a fishing village in the early 18th century, Dubai started to take form in 1822, having accumulated a population of around 800 people. Dubai was taken under the United Kingdom’s wing in 1892 following the General Maritime Treaty of 1820, and the 1853 Perpetual Maritime Truce in an area once known as “Pirate Coast”. Prior to the oil industry, pearls were considered one of the biggest commodities in the area. The ruler Maktoum bin Hasher Al Maktoum established Dubai as a free port with no taxation on imports and exports in 1901, making it an appealing destination for trade, especially gold. In 1966, London shipped 4,000,000 ounces of gold to Dubai. During the 1970s, the area continued to grow due to revenues generated from oil and trade. The 1990 Gulf War caused only a minor set-back to the area’s development. Many foreign trading companies moved-in during the 1990s. In June 2001, the Palm Jumeirah,  arguably the world’s most extraordinary artificial archipelago, was completed.

Located on the Persian Gulf’s southeastern coast, Dubai is the largest and most populated city in the United Arab Emirates. A Middle Eastern global city and business hub, Dubai has seen a decline in oil production, and has thus moved its profit centers in the direction of tourism, trade, real estate, aviation and financial services. The world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, stands at 2,722 feet high and is located in Dubai’s downtown district. Unlike with most other Middle Eastern cities, alcohol consumption is permitted in Dubai. And, while Islamic law prohibits unmarried couples from sharing a hotel room, most luxury hotels have a relaxed policy allowing for opposite, unmarried travelers to room together. Major attractions include Al Fahidi Fort, Business Bay, National Bank of Dubai, The Dubai Fountain, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Opera, Dubai Media City and Dubai Tennis Stadium.  Popular foods are hummus, shawarma, labneh, or a type of yogurt spread, manakish, which is similar to pizza, falafel and shish taouk, or marinated chicken shish kebab. Jellab is a classic Arabian drink that consists of a grape molasses and rose water blend, sometimes topped with pine nuts and raisins. Now that we have some background information on the area, it’s time for hotels in Dubai that will help make for an unforgettable experience.

  1. This article and review on penthouses in Dubai caught my eye for a special reason: I live here for much of the year! I know that it can be expensive for everyone in hotels and for living too as villas are not that cheap either. If you are coming to the place for a vacation, getting a penthouse is a wonderful way to enjoy the stay.

I was surprised at the rates for some of the penthouses, as they actually were less than I expected. For a good 4 or 5 star hotel here, you can pay $200 to $300 or more per night for a rather regular room. I used to stay often in hotels, so I know this from my own experience.

If you are with a larger party, a penthouse should definitely be a consideration I think. It will make your stay a lot more memorable. There are lots of things to do while in Dubai, and you will want to have a nice place to come back to when you are finished with an action-packed day.

    1. Thank you very much for your insights Dave! Dubai is not an inexpensive stay if you demand luxury, but some diamonds in the rough at reasonable prices can be found as well for sure. The Underwater Suite at Atlantis might just be a must see!

  2. Hi Admin

I don’t know what else to call you because I didn’t see a name. I just finished reading your post, Best Hotels Dubai – Penthouses. This is an excellent site to me. I was captivated by the all the beautiful pictures.

I found myself clicking links to see what does that look like! Why are you hiding who you are is there a reason for that?

You don’t have an About Me page, why?  Trust me Admin you need one.

    Great site really impressed.

    Eric

    1. Hi Eric and thank you for the recommendations! An About Me page is in the works, so please stay tuned. Your comments about the site are much appreciated.

  3. WOW! I love it, Visiting Dubai is number 6 in my Bucket list 🙂
This are the Royalties Suites, but more option to choose from, not to expensive for sure. Beside the Suites you also describe the amenities and also includes the Restaurant near by.
This website is so Glamourous, I love it.

  5. I’m loving the penthouses in Dubai!

Though I most certainly wouldn’t be able to afford most of them, I am surprised to find out that there are still some affordable ones within the $500 range but what fun would that be if we’re going to Dubai. I am curious on Frond A’s pricing though, is there a rough price range to it to give us an idea? Say around $2-3k budget per person, or do you think it’s $5k per person?

    1. Hi Riaz. Great question. Dream Inn – Getaway Villa will be about $973 per night and $93 per person. The post has been updated. Thanks again for stopping by!

  6. Thanks for the penthouses list in Dubai. I have plan to go there on vacation next year, so this list is quite helpful. Although I personally like the setting of Dream Inn apartments, I may choose Kempinski over it. In my city, Kempinski apartment has been famous for giving the best service they can, and I have a personal experience staying there. I will discuss this with my friends. Thanks

  7. Hi there, what more can we ask for right?. We love to travel and always invest a great deal of time planing a good vacations and provably more time looking for the best hotels. It gives so many ideas and options for hotels. I love it. I can’t wait to set up my next vacation in a few weeks. The hardest choice now is which one 🙂

  9. Another great list of penthouse!

Frond A Palm Jumeirah caught my eyes, it is so beautiful. And I am very amazed at the price, it’s very affordable. For such an expensive city, this is so good. I love the city, I do visit every year and I think that I will have to visit. Even my husband liked the place in the photo.

    Thank you for sharing.

    1. Hi Adyns and nice to see you again! So very glad that you and your husband liked the place in the photo and hope to see you again soon 🙂

  10. Hi!  I love the photographs!  They’re gorgeous!  Dubai has always been a dream destination for me as I’m interested in attended some of the horse races there someday!  Perhaps with a stay at the Dream Inn, which looks beautiful in your photo!  It’s hard to imagine these are hotels.  Insanely pretty.  Thanks for the article!

  11. Hi there! Until I found your site, I wasn’t even thinking of places like this. Me and a group of friends are just beginning the idea of going big on our next excursion. I’m intrigued by this possibility. What a memorable difference this could be. But I am curious, can you shed a little more info on the accommodations? More specifically are there multiple sleeping rooms in these penthouses? Are there any occupancy limits? In other words if my group of 8 were to reserve one of these penthouses, how would that stay playout. Thanks

  12. Hello,

The penthouses are so fabulous! I have never visited Dubaj, but If I go there once I would pick Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jumeirah one, which look so wonderful!

Thank you for sharing it, I love your articles, it always brings me a new insight into the possible living in the cities, which I would like to visit once.

Looking forward to your other post and have a great summer!

    Bye Renata

  13. Well, it certainly appears to be a lifestyle for the rich and famous and prices most regular people out of the market. However, I can see where it could be very reasonable if you are making a group trip of at least six people who are all sharing in the cost.

Actually, I was surprised at how reasonable some of the penthouses actually are. My personal favorite would probably be the Frond A, Palm Jumeirah. It looks very nice but also has a very reasonable price point.

This is a very well constructed site and should spark much interest from your site visitors who are in the process of planning a trip to beautiful Dubai.

    Best of luck with it!

  14. Very well put together! This site definitely makes me want to book a penthouse asap! So many beautiful places. Great job on the photos and the information. I would like to see a little information on the author, but other than that. Very clean, very nice! Job well done! Thank you for sharing.

    1. Hi Tracy and thank you for the comments! Really glad that you appreciate the site and your recommendations are noted.

  15. What an excellent page for luxury travel!  My wife and I will be traveling to Dubai next year with another couple.  We had not thought of a penthouse before, but this site has opened our eyes to the possibilities.  With two couples, the prices are resonable considering the accomodations.  Great website!  Thanks for the article and for opeing our eyes to new possibilities.

  16. To me, Dubai has always been a city of dreams for me to which I always fantasy about going to the place and exploring. I have heard and read a lot about the luxury that accompanies most buildings especially hotels and penthouses in the city. All the pent house suggested are all of excellent qualities with magnanimous prices. It would definitely be recorded in the list of things I must explore in life. Great post!

  17. Excellent review on Best Hotels Dubai – Penthouses, I thought the best hotel in Dubai is 5star hotel, with all that you have explained in this article,am convinced and I think when next I pay a visit to that country, this particular hotel would make use,You have done an excellent job for this educative article. Thank you.

  18. There are many attractions in Dubai that has been awed by a lot of people, from sand boarding, mosque visits, slope ski sessions to camel safari tour and hop-on-hop-off the bus tours – I mean there are wide varieties of activities to choose from. Most actors and tv personalities from Hollywood are also said to frequent this country for an extravagant vacation. It’s a common knowledge for all that hotels and buildings are designed to be luxurious looking and they take pride on it. I like how each of your hotel and penthouse recommendation are detailed with features and price. If ever me and my friends can push through our most awaited visit, I would probably choose Kempinski’ 4 bedroom apartment. I think it’s one of the most affordable. a stay in Dubai is really expensive but it’s worth the price. Thanks for sharing this!

  19. Enchanting is the first thing that comes to mind before I can even start to discuss your list; underwater rooms, private beaches, themed pools, is more than a mouthful to have in one list. What’s even more pleasantly surprising is that there is not one but two options that fall below the $100 mark with virtually a home setting! Incredible! Thanks for an awesome compilation.

    We are Blessed.

    1. Mark thank you and glad to see that you found these Dubai hotels both incredible and cost-effective in some cases. While Dubai is not the cheapest place you’ll find out there for your travels, it is one of the most unique in the world with its innovative architecture and infrastructure. It’s definitely a bucket list place and your thoughts about the area are spot-on. Thanks again and happy travels!

  20. Wow, I imagine that the views from penthouse rentals in Dubai are similar to what one sees from an airplane! The buildings are just so crazy tall!

I probably would have assumed these were all too pricey for a stay, so thank you for including rental costs. There are some affordable options that are gorgeous that would be perfect for a small group traveling to Dubai!

  21. Another great place to travel is Dubai, a very rich country.  I picked my choices also; Atlantis The Palm, Dubai is look so stunning, you would really see the gold design connection .  I like also the Dream Inn Apartments because of its modern design but with a twist of high and tall wood.  What I love most is the Dream Inn Getaway Villa because of its touch of femininity design, also I can see the water view outside and the far buildings.  Thank you for this, I will jot down this hotels and include in my bucket list.
